Before changing PHP
- Check the application, framework, theme and plugin requirements.
- Create a current backup and use staging for a major-version change.
- Update abandoned extensions or replace them before removing the PHP version they require.
- Record any custom extensions and values already in use.
Change the website PHP version
- Open the website in Enhance and choose Developer tools or PHP.
- Select the target version available on the server.
- Save the change and allow the website container to reload.
- Test public pages, administration, forms, scheduled tasks and checkout.
- Review the application log for deprecation notices or fatal errors.
Adjust limits only for a reason
- memory_limit affects how much memory one PHP process may use.
- upload_max_filesize and post_max_size must both accommodate the upload.
- max_execution_time can help a legitimate long task, but increasing it will not fix a loop or external timeout.
- Package or server limits can cap customer-editable values. Contact support if Enhance refuses the required setting.
Important
A larger limit can hide inefficient code and increase resource pressure. Change the smallest value that solves the verified requirement.
